Since the original studies of corneal cross-linking, there have been modifications to the standard CXL technique. One modification is using an isotonic riboflavin solution mixed with hydroxymethylcellulose (HPMC). This solution may limit the dehydration (thinning) of the cornea during the CXL procedure.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of isotonic riboflavin solution for crosslinking. The second goal of the study is to determine if there are any differences between administering isotonic riboflavin with HPMC vs standard riboflavin with dextran.
